I am a nationally certified and licensed massage therapist, and am a member of
AMTA. I have worked in health care as an Occupational Therapist for over
6 years, serving a variety of clients in many different settings. I approach massage
as a way to continue to help others and share the human experience of touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are massage therapists certified?
Yes, they can be certified as a massage therapist or a massage therapist and bodywork
practitioner.
NCBTMB is the national organization in charge of this certification, which
requires continuing education every four years to keep licensure. Massage therapists
are also licensed in the State of Illinois, which is renewed biennially with a continuing
education requirement as well. I hold certifications in massage therapy and bodyworks
(NCTMB),
am licensed in the State of Illinois (LMT),
and am a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L)
Do I have to make an appointment?
Yes, appointments are necessary to allow for the best experience that works with
your busy lifestyle.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes they are available in a variety of monetary amounts. Please see the
current massage rates
to get an idea of what you would like to give.
Do you have private room?
A waiting room and bathroom is available to all clients. All massages are provided
in a private room.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Cash and local checks are accepted.
Should I tip a massage therapist, and how much?
Massage therapists should be treated as other service personnel ( hairdresser, valet,
manicurist) where tips are often given but not expected.
What should I wear for a massage?
Come in comfortable clothing so that you are able to leave in comfortable clothing.
A Swedish massage can be performed with any level of clothing that the client feels
comfortable with. Clothing might interfere with strokes and massage techniques that
can be applied, so a typical Swedish massage is done nude with sheets covering areas
not being massaged. Clothing will be removed with the therapist out of the room,
which is entered only when the client is under the sheets.
Will you respect my privacy?
Personal privacy and respect is of paramount importance. Sheets cover any areas
not being massaged, and you may specify any specific areas that you do not want
touched or exposed.
Your personal information is also respected. Any personal (financial and medical)
information is shared with nobody.
Do you accept health insurance?
Unfortunately, the small number of health insurance providers that cover massage
services makes it impractical to accept insurance.
